The 2012 Cherry Blossom Festival which will run from Saturday April 7 through Saturday April 14, 2012 celebrates the 100th anniversary of the gift of the Cherry Trees from Japan and the 65th anniversary of the Princess program.  Information on the Princess program including Princess application forms can be found at http://statesocieties.org/PrincessProgram.aspx while events during the festival can be found at http://statesocieties.org/Events.aspx.

Attendance at the Princess program is open to the public and any interested young lady with ties to Virginia between the ages of 19 and 24 is eligible to represent the Commonwealth of Virginia.  Applications should be submitted to President Gail Sullivan by December 15, 2011.  Ties to Virginia include being a native born Virginian, attend school in Virginia or be a descendant of a Virginian and become affiliated with the Virginia State Society.  The successful applicant will be chosen based on the information submitted in the application and a short interview.
